Driving in Aruba

Drive on the Right
Aruba drives on the right-hand side, like the US and Europe. Overtake on the left.

Speed Limits
30 km/h in towns · 60 km/h outside · 80 km/h on highways. Signs are in km/h.

Roundabouts
Common in Aruba. Cars already in the roundabout have right of way — always yield before entering.

No Right on Red
Unlike the US, right turns on a red light are strictly prohibited. Wait for green.

Gas Stations
Attendants pump for you at most stations. Tipping is appreciated but not required. Prices are government-regulated.

Driving License
Your home license is accepted for tourists. An IDP is only required if your license isn't in Latin script.

Off-Road Areas
Arikok National Park and the north coast are 4x4 only. Regular cars are not insured for these roads — ask us.

What is the minimum age to rent?

You must be at least 23 years old with a valid driver's license held for at least 2 years.

What documents do I need at pickup?

A valid driver's license, your passport or government-issued ID, and a major credit card for the security deposit. Your license must be in Latin script — if not, an International Driving Permit (IDP) is required.

What is the deposit amount?

Deposits typically range from $300 to $500 depending on the vehicle category, held on a major credit card and fully released at vehicle return.

Do you deliver to my hotel or villa?

Yes. We deliver anywhere on the island — airport, hotel, villa, cruise port. Simply tell us your address or hotel name in your reservation request.

Is mileage really unlimited?

Yes. Every vehicle includes unlimited mileage. Drive the entire island as many times as you like.

What if I have an accident or breakdown?

Call us directly at +297 593 1982 or WhatsApp anytime — 24/7. For emergencies involving injury, dial 911 first, then call us.

Can I take the car off-road?

Only with our Jeep 4x4. Regular cars are not insured for unpaved roads, Arikok National Park, or the rugged north coast. Driving a non-4x4 off-road voids your insurance.

Can I smoke in the car?

No. Atlantic vehicles are strictly non-smoking. A $250 cleaning fee applies if smoking is detected.

What about fuel?

You receive the car with a full tank. Please return it full. If returned with less fuel, we will refuel and add the cost plus a service fee.

Is there a cancellation fee?

Cancellations made more than 48 hours before pickup are free. Within 48 hours, a small administrative fee may apply.

Can children sit in the front?

No. Children under 5 must be seated in the rear with an appropriate child seat. We provide infant and child seats free of charge — just request them at booking.

Do you accept cash?

We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express). A credit card is required for the security deposit.
